The Education and Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day implementation and management of Wild Ones education programs. Reporting to the Advancement Director, this position ensures programs are effectively coordinated, supported, and delivered in alignment with organizational goals and standards.
The Manager works closely with volunteers, committees, and staff to execute programs, manage timelines, and ensure consistent, high-quality experiences for chapters and members. This role plays a critical part in translating program strategy into actionable plans and successful outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Implementation & Coordination
Manages day-to-day operations of education programs, ensuring activities are well coordinated, timely, and aligned with established goals and plans. The Manager develops and maintains program timelines, work plans, and deliverables while ensuring consistency and quality across initiatives. Contributes to the ongoing development of Wild Ones’ overall education and program strategy, helping to shape priorities and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Program Administration & Support
Leads coordination of key national programs such as Seeds for Education Grants, webinars, quarterly Journal, blog, and other initiatives, working closely with staff, volunteers, and committees to ensure successful implementation. The Manager supports logistics, communications, and scheduling to keep programs running smoothly, while monitoring program budgets to ensure activities are delivered within approved spending.
Grants Administration
Coordinates with advancement staff to administer grant processes, including applications, project coordination, tracking, and reporting. Ensures grant requirements are met and timelines are followed, while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Program Reporting & Data Management
Tracks program participation, outputs, and outcomes, maintaining accurate records and supporting reporting needs. The Manager compiles data and prepares summaries to support evaluation, decision-making, and leadership reporting.
Resource Development
Develops and maintains national program resources, templates, and materials that support chapters and participants. Ensuring materials are clear, accessible, and aligned with program goals and organizational standards.
Volunteer & Committee Coordination
Supports and coordinates volunteers and committees involved in program delivery, ensuring clear communication, expectations, and follow-through. Builds strong working relationships that support program success.
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborates with internal teams, including Marketing and Chapter & Member Services, to support communication, outreach, and program alignment. Collaborates with external partners to support mutually beneficial relationships. Ensures stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout program processes.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in program management, nonprofit management, environmental education, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Three to five years of experience in program coordination, project management, education, or nonprofit operations.
- Experience working with volunteers or committees is preferred.
- Experience managing grants or structured program processes is beneficial.
- Experience working in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations and familiarity in chapter-based or membership organizations preferred.
- Experience or knowledge related to native plants and ecosystems, or other conservation, environmental, or nature-based work, is beneficial.

- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and familiarity with CRM and data systems.
- Ability to learn systems and adapt to evolving processes.

- This is a remote position. Candidates residing within approximately one hour of Wild Ones’ National Office in Neenah, Wisconsin may be asked to work in a hybrid arrangement based on organizational needs. Work arrangements may vary based on the candidate’s location and the evolving needs of the organization. Periodic travel is required to support business needs, including attendance at conferences, team meetings, the annual membership meeting, and select program activities. Some travel and events may occur during evenings or weekends.
- Employees working remotely are expected to maintain a suitable, distraction-free workspace with reliable internet access. Necessary technology, such as a laptop and monitor, will be provided by the organization.
- Ability to perform the physical tasks required of a standard remote and/or hybrid office environment, including extended periods of sitting or standing, regular use of a computer and other office equipment, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds (e.g., office supplies or equipment).
- Ability to manage frequent interruptions (e.g., calls, walk-in inquiries, time-sensitive requests) while prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work on a consistent schedule during standard business hours, with occasional evening or weekend work to support organizational deadlines, launches, or events.

Salary and Benefits
Salary: $40,000-$50,000 annually
Benefits: Accrued PTO, 15 fixed holidays, and 3 flex holidays. Health, dental, and vision insurance available after minimum employment requirements are met, along with employee basic life, AD&D, and short-term disability coverage. Eligible for a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan after minimum employment requirements are met, with up to a 3% company match.
