The first national legal resource dedicated to native plants and natural landscaping.
Across the country, outdated ordinances, HOA rules, and misconceptions about “weeds” prevent people from creating native landscapes. The Wild Lawyers team was created to change that. Our mission is to educate communities about the laws that shape native plant and natural landscaping and make those laws understandable and actionable.
The Wild Lawyers don’t provide direct legal representation, but they do provide the resources, model policies, and clear explanations that chapters, members, and homeowners need to advocate effectively.
What We Do
The Wild Lawyers develop and share resources to make the legal side of native landscaping less intimidating. Their work includes creating model ordinances that municipalities can adapt to encourage native landscaping, providing HOA and homeowner guidance to help residents navigate restrictive rules, and offering public education through blogs, FAQs, and presentations that demystify the legal landscape.
Wild Lawyers do not provide legal representation to Wild Ones, its members, chapters, or the public. The group meets monthly to discuss ordinances, HOA issues, and develop educational tools and guidance.
Volunteer with Wild Lawyers
Help us make the laws around native plants clear and accessible. We’re looking for attorneys, planners, policy specialists, paralegals, law students, etc., who can connect legal insight to on-the-ground landscaping practices.
In the News
