Wild Ones is looking for individuals with a wide range of skills and backgrounds to serve on the National Board of Directors. If you share our vision of native plants and natural landscapes thriving in every community, please consider applying.
An effective and impactful board comprises individuals with different perspectives, drawn from diverse cultural or ethnic backgrounds, varied areas of expertise, a wide range of lived experiences and a myriad of skills. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive leadership team and encourage people from all genders, races, religions, abilities and sexual orientations to apply.
Wild Ones will hold elections this Fall for board directors to serve a three-year term starting on January 1, 2027, and ending December 31, 2029. The deadline for applications is July 13, 2026.
Who Should Apply?
Wild Ones wants people who think analytically and creatively. Specific areas of expertise of value to the organization are advocacy experience, legal background, financial background, fundraising, and strategic planning. Prior experience as a nonprofit board member is also helpful. None of these prerequisites are required; the most important factor in your success as a Wild Ones board director is the willingness and ability to learn and ask questions, and a commitment to our mission of promoting native landscapes through education, advocacy, and collaborative action.

- Voting Period: September 9 – September 28, 2026
- Notification to candidates of election results: October 2, 2026
- Onboarding: November – December 2026

Candidates must be active Wild Ones members in good standing or willing to become a Wild Ones member.
