Thank you for your support of Wild Ones’ Annual Appeal!

With the New Year comes new chances to help the environment. Increasing the use of native plants in all types of landscapes is an easy way to make a big difference. The Wild Ones mission is to spread the news about the importance of using native plants. Your support of our Annual Appeal allows us to share our mission across the country.

Why Native Plants?

A recent University of Florida study published in Urban Ecosystems determined that replacing traditional plants in golf course out-of-play areas with native flowers not only benefits pollinating insects, but also promotes natural pest control. This reduces the amount of time, money, and chemicals needed for pest control. It’s not only good for the environment, it’s good business to use native plants.

Native plants help diminish the effects of climate change in ways including the reduction of both flash flooding and urban “heat islands”. Since less equipment is needed for maintenance of native plantings, air pollution is also reduced.

Why Wild Ones?

Wild Ones provides materials used to educate the public on why and how to use native plants. Many people don’t know which plants are native, don’t know what native species to use in different soil, sunlight, or moisture conditions, or don’t realize native wildflowers are just as stunning as non-native exotics. Other organizations focus on birds, bugs, or butterflies. Wild Ones members are the native plant experts.

Your Annual Appeal donation supports environmental education

In 2019, Wild Ones branched out into new states. With your help, new chapters were chartered in Arkansas, Maryland, and Massachusetts. Your donations enable us to teach people across the country about the importance of including native species in all sizes and types of landscapes. Our members are teaching people how to add natives to landscapes ranging from churches to community centers to businesses.

It’s not too late to support Wild Ones’ work in 2020
