Meetings are usually the first Saturday of each month 10:00-11:30 a.m. The location depends on what we have scheduled: field trip, speaker or service project. Sometimes we go somewhere for lunch afterwards!

Prairie Walk and Potluck
Location: Clarence and Karen Kaplan's home: 5721 Middle Road, Caledonia, WI
Bring a dish to pass and if you want to throw something on the grill, bring that as well. Wild Ones will supply cold beverages. Also bring your own (non-disposable) plates, silverware, etc.
We will walk the Kaplan's beautiful prairie and have a great day. Possible field trip to Kenosha afterwards!

Removal of Prairie Invasives
Location: Chiwaukee Prairie
Time: 10:00 am -1:00 pm
Help Pam Holy and the other fine folks at Chiwaukee Prairie fight the good fight against invasives. This month we're looking for Queen Anne's lace, black swallow-wort, purple loosestrife, and hairy willowherb.
Wear long pants and boots - no shorts or sandals. Bring insect repellent and water. Also bring garbage bags for the weeds and gloves for your hands.

We are meeting at Joann Sustachek's home to help her incorporate more natives into her landscape. Doesn't that sound fun? Of course it does! Bring your ideas and opinions - all are welcome!

Check Out a Member's Native Landscapes!!

Time: 10:00 - 11:30 am
We are meeting at the home of Harley and Evelyn Dell to see their native landscaping and to help Harley seed nearby pond banks. We can also collect seed, so bring baggies if you're interested.
Dress for the weather - we'll be outside for most of the meeting. If you're interested in helping Harley, wear sturdy shoes.
We're planning to go to The Meadows Family Restaurant, 10615 Northwestern Ave. in Franksville for lunch afterwards. Hope to see you there!

Chiwaukee Prairie, Our Inherited Responsibility

Come learn about the very cool Chiwaukee Prairie from our very own Pam Holy! We will lunch afterward at the Bristol 45 Diner near the school.
The Root River Chapter of Wild Ones is dedicated to serving as a resource for members of the community interested in natural landscaping and preserving native plant species, whether in a single flower bed or a multi-acre prairie or woodland restoration. We welcome new and prospective members to join us at any of our Saturday programs and community activities.
